Ever wanted to go to a place so bad that you know if you ever got there, your spirit would be at ease?
I have two.
- Greece (I’d be thankful to just make it to any part of Greece, but more preferably Santorini or Laconia, the location of the ancient city of Sparta)
- Somewhere where I can ski and celebrate a white Christmas (Colorado or Pocono Mountains)
Both locations may appear to be random but in fact hold much significance. I fell in love with history and all things historical after watching Helen of Troy starring Matthew Marsden (I tend to watch all the movies that my favorite actors have starred in.) I decided to do research and ultimately fell in love with anything “ancient”. All of my favorite movies have a historical context (300, Troy, Tristan and Isolde, Alexander, Gladiator). Visting Laconia would be a life’s dream fulfilled for me. Troy is located in Present day Turkey and I’d prefer to visit Greece first. As far as for skiing, I spent quite a bit of my childhood in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania and my best memories from my childhood were made there. Why not go back? My parents were too paranoid to let my brothers and I ski, so I know that I will be trying that real soon.
